Senior Night Recap

Senior Night was Tuesday!  Let's just say I didn't realize so much planning went into it!  Pictures to sign, cards to write, bags to fill, flowers to arrange, order of events to be decided ... it's a good thing there were a lot of us doing it!  It was really fun, albeit a little stressful, but way worth it.  All six of our hitters graduated!

The JH and JV won and if we had pulled out the win, it would've been a Chief sweep ... we were so close.  It went to four games and we came back from 19-24 to 23-24 before losing the final point.  We played pretty well, unfortunately, it kicked it a little too late.

It was our coaches final home game AND birthday, so there was a slide show for him and they played this song.  I went home and bought it.  It is a fantastic warm up, pump up, running song.  It's old hat to you all, I know, but its new to me and I cannot get enough of it.  :)

Isn't he adorable?  You are too, Bethany!

Getting up there ...

The only huddle that wasn't blurry!

Hannah and Anna, our back row specialists!

Seniors and parents!

Me and my right side hitter, Abby.

Abby B. and Irma.

Rebek and me.  (And Peyton:)

Losing is hard. That's nothing novel, I know, but we did lose - on senior night - and it's not fun. But I realized after our ref gave me a hug (yes, we have an awesome ref!) and told me, "you gotta smile!" that it is just a game and not worth stealing my joy.  Losing happens.  Sure, it hurts, but it isn't the end of the world. Several thoughts ran through my mind after the game (after I was done being disappointed:) Learning to let things go was the first thing. Choosing up not let bad circumstances steal my smile was a second. Relationships are more important than stats was another. Finally, winning becomes more special when there are losses to contrast them to.

Thankfully, the season isn't over!  I'm driving to State as we speak.  (It's early, trust me, I know.)  We'll play Cair Paravel tonight (we have four other games) and hopefully win this time.  In order to qualify for Saturday, we have to be in the top eight.  I hope we have the mentality of one game at a time and that we set doable goals for each game (set well, pass well, serve a certain spot, etc) and meet them.  Pray for safe travels and no injuries and lots of energy and team time!

  5. You should be happy that at least won some my volleyball team ( well you can hardly call it a team) lost EVERY game. I had to miss one game and my dad made a joke that if they won the game that it was because of that we were losing but.... we lost that game to:( We just were not a team thats all. Are you good at over handed serving because I stink at it ? I'm good at under handed serving though. Hope you do good on your next game and I wish I was on your volleyball team!!!
