Dare to Share - Berryanna Smoothie

Several things have convinced me I'm not a very good sharer.

I don't like sharing my sleep with Daylights Saving Time.

I don't like sharing our Internet with everyone else in our neighborhood.

I don't like sharing the Big 12 title. (Especially with in state rivals.)

And I don't like sharing frozen fruit.  I hoard it, ration it, savor it.

Abigail is always asking for my blueberries or strawberries. And I usually say no because our bags of frozen mixed berries are small . . . and I, uh, go through them quickly without anyone else's help. I enjoy eating them with yogurt but I also love them in smoothies. Now, there really is no recipe for a smoothie. This is just one of my favorites.

Berryanna Smoothie

1/2 banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/4 cup greek yogurt
1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
A couple tablespoons of orange juice
Handful of ice cubes

Throw it all in a blender!  Pour and drink deeply of the smooth strawberry goodness!

Note:  I used Chobani greek yogurt and Great Value vanilla yogurt.  The reason for both is because the greek yogurt adds creaminess while the vanilla yogurt adds flavor.  (I have used plain and vanilla greek yogurt, but I'm sure strawberry would be amazing.  Like I said, there really isn't a smoothie recipe, just bases and ideas!)

And this smoothie was made with my new Vitamix!  When we went to celebrate my Grandpa's birthday, my grandma pulled me aside and said she knew I had wanted one and she "doesn't use hers very much" and I could have it. I could have her Vitamix! I had wanted one for a really long time and I can't wait to experiment more with its super high powered blender!

But the point is she was more than willing to share, in fact, it brought her to joy share with me.  The Bible tells us to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  Even if it is hard, sharing (yes, even that Big 12 title *sigh*) is a way to show others Jesus' love.  So here is a challenge to get you started - go out and double this recipe to share with your family.  Because sharing is blessing!

  2. Mmmm, this looks good! I can relate about not sharing frozen fruit! I tend to hoard that, too. That's soo exciting about the Vitamix! And love your thoughts at the end. I always try to skim that section especially closely.
