It's a ....

GIRL!

I'm smitten with this itty bitty girl.  She weighs next to nothing (all newborns seem so little next to their two and three year old siblings!) and is oh, just adorable.  John Caleb was born during Preseason of the 2010 volleyball season and this gal was born midway through my Nationals tournament of the 2013 volleyball season.  As soon as we found out the due date, we were all like, "Nationals baby!"

I puffy heart love this picture.  I snapped it at just the right time.  Sweet baby.

Isn't she darling?

Rebekah Ruth.

I'd forgotten how little and vulnerable newborns are.  Holding her is like holding a doll. So stinking sweet.  I'd forgotten how much I fell in love.  I'd forgotten how just watching them was the most entertaining thing ever.

I'm so excited to have another baby around here.

She was born on Friday and I got home Saturday night.  As soon as I was dropped off (thanks to my siblings, I've been "orphaned" and homeless for several days during tournaments;) I hopped in the car with Dad and headed to the hospital.  It was so nice to be alone, without six other pairs of hands wanting to hold her, too.

Now I have get to share her with everyone;)

It's a girl!  And the whole thing is surreal.  Coming home to a new baby was incredible.  Getting to hold her is amazing.  It's only been a day and I still am absorbing it all.  Things like headbands and pink and cute can now become staples in my vocabulary.

Guys, I could hold her forever.  FOREVER.  She is so precious.  What makes newborn's soft skin and little noses and fuzzy hair and newborn smell so mesmerizing?  They are truly a miracle and I am head over heels for Rebekah.

It's funny to hear Elizabeth's and Abigail's comments and Dad already talking about how I can coach her volleyball team.  I wasn't sure whether or not I was ready to have my world rocked, but now, I'm more than ready for more diapers and tantrums and late nights.  The cuddles and smiles and milestones are worth every second of being sixteen and having a baby sister.  Not many girls my age are blessed with newborn sisters and I'm not going to take it for granted.

Between Nationals and Rebekah, posts have been slow in coming.  Don't worry, sugar is coming!  And I'm sure there will be lots of photos of Rebekah as well. :)
Love,
Mary Frances

  5. Awwwwwww I had checked your blog early this morning and didn't see anything new and now this! I wish I could see her in person. My uncle had a baby at the end of july so he still is a newborn. Whenever we go and see himI want to hold him first. That almost never happens if my mother can stop it but when I get him I don't want to put him down EVER too!! My friend has a older sister named rebekah and they call her bekka for short. Well I will finish this long comment with another awwwww and that I wish I could meet her and you in person :)
