Apple Crisp
Crust:
Sift together 2-2/3 cup flour, 3 tsp. sugar and 1 tsp. salt. Place in a 9x13 dish. Add 1 cup oil and 1/4 cup milk' mix and dough against bottom of pan to form crust.
Filling:
4 apples (we use Granny Smith), peeled, cored and chopped, about 8 cups
2 cups sugar
2 cups sour cream
1 tsp. lemon juic
2 tsp. cinnamon
Note: My brother mixes the last four ingredients together and then adds the apples, but I toss the apples in the lemon juice and then add the rest. It does turn out the same way each time, so its up to you:)
Pour over crust.
Creme Topping:
2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar
4 tbsp. butter, room temperature
Combine with fork until flaky and then sprinkle over apple mixture.
Bake at 425 for 10 minutes and then reduce heat to 350 and continue to bake for 45 minutes.
They said you can half it for a pie, but it will be full and will need a pan to go underneath it. I personally have never tried it.
I love seeing different people use their gifts to bless others. Some people are passionate about cooking, (like me) some like cleaning (not like me . . . you rock cleaners!), some are good listeners . . . the list goes on. Seeing people use the talents God has given them to bless others reminds to appreciate their differences. It also gives me examples of service.
P.S. I tried so hard to get a picture of this onto this post, but let's just say I finally admitted defeat and surrendered to the computer (which I am going to move away from as soon as I finish this!) I tried uploading it from this site, but it wouldn't let me. I tried to upload it on our Shutterfly and copy the URL and post, but it was protected. I tried posting the picture on a public shutterfly account, but then our Internet quit. So I apologize and hope that the recipe looks good even without the picture!
Update: 4/13. New photos! And adjusted recipe!

It sounds amazing! YUM. Yes, I've been having trouble with uploading pictures as well. :( But Im sure it tastes wonderful, even if there are no pictures to prove the point!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound delicious! Has your mom had a baby recently, or are you just remembering after the last one?
