Pie crusts stuffed with peanut butter Reese's filling and drizzled in chocolate. Easy, yet rich and finger licking good!
Or these weekend. After our first game, I wanted a sandwich and nothing else. After our third game, I wanted a smoothie or ice cream, something cold and creamy. And nothing else. I love my mom; she has to buy me all my food. Thankfully, the weirdest thing I've ever asked for is shredded wheat or tahini.
And this is crazy easy. I used premade pie crust (yes, I'm lazy) and the filling has only three ingredients. Then the drizzle is just melted chocolate. And they are so cute and are easy to hold in your hand.b They're perfect for football parties and entertaining.
I've been reading Pilgrims Progress for school and I love it. The last time I read it was when I was eight or nine and it's been really good to refresh all those lessons in it. One of the things I've been struck by is how Christian and his companion crave Celestial City. All their actions and thoughts revolve around it. I was reminded of how I should be the same way.
Another thing that struck me about the book was how John Bunyan named his characters based on their character, who they were on the inside. Like Pride and Greed and Worldly Wisdom. As the reader, I didn't want Christian to befriend them because I knew who they were. I would love to say I never become buddy buddy with traits such as Judgmental because you know, they're so unbearable! yet I do and worse, I try to cover it up or justify it with words like "objective" or "honest." Pride is another one and is easy to ignore. "It's only what I deserve" or "yeah, I am pretty good! I need to prove this to everyone!" Reading Pilgrim's Progress reminded me to be discerning in the character qualities I befriend and especially to be firm in getting rid of the ones that are negative. Also, as Christian put it, "we're not put the Devil's gunshot yet!" In my pride (how appropriate) I like to think myself exempt from some of the Devil's snares like (you guessed it) pride. Oh the irony. I want to train my mind to crave good character traits because cravings lead to action. Like making these hand pies. Or maybe letting others get credit without fuss.

ReplyDeleteMe too, thanks Dorothy!
DeleteCould you do these with crescent rolls?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you could! You would probably have to adjust the baking time and temp according the crescent roll package and they would taste different, but I think it would work just fine. Let me know what you think if you try it!
DeleteCould you do these with crescent rolls?

ReplyDeleteWhen I first read this post, I was like, "Wow, she's a genius. But I've already told her that, so I guess she already knows that. Soooooo I got this idea to look up words in the thesaurus that MEAN genius but I wouldn't actually be saying genius." Because that would be repetitive and obvious, and I'm sure you get tired of hearing it at some point. So... here it goes... you show incredible aptitude for food-related... stuff. Hmm, well, you do, but that sounds weird. How about, you have once again demonstrated culinary sagacity? Yeah no. Okay, then you're a food Einstein. Much better!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so you know what I mean. GREAT post. Great pictures. Great ideas. Einstein everything!
I literally laughed out loud at this, Hannah! You are the best ... you crack me up:) Thanks for such a sweet and funny comment!
DeleteAnyone who makes this illegal should be banned from this nation...just saying. I love these. Keep having those cravings...it's good for us ;)
ReplyDeleteNonono, this should definitely be illegal.. Something with this much peanut butter sounds like it should be on the "WANTED - 1000000$" list for sure.. (not sure if I added enough zeros)
DeleteOn a side note: I totally understand the food cravings Mary! I sometimes crave with the weirdest and most random things at the most impossible times! Luckily today it was just chocobananas and I had to go shopping anyway xP
Will do Ms. Zainab! Hehe, you guys are so funny! The wanted list made me laugh, MoonLight, and I have banana chocolate cravings, too! I wish I had them at midnight, it would make life so much easier:) Thank you!
DeleteOMG. These look yum-mazing! :O
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. Maybe it's the weather, or the fact that my mom made these most delicious pumpkin muffins over the week but I'm craving anything with pumpkin. Reading this definitely curved my pumpkin craving but now I want pastry crusted peanut butter cups!
Fabulous idea, Mary!
Toodles,
Tammy<3
Pumpkin cravings are totally acceptable around here! Although, chocolate and peanut butter never go away ,,, :) Thanks Tammy!
DeleteAs a peanut butter cup lover I totally get your craving! When I want one I have to have it and can think of nothing else. Except maybe these scrumptious hand pie! These are completely craveable and I love how easy they are.
ReplyDeleteSo true, it IS the only thing you can think about. Thanks Reeni!
DeleteWoah. Awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteMaybe too awesome for my own good, er, I mean, my waistline's good;) Thanks!
DeleteI want to jump into this picture!! These look incredible!! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ms. Jocelyn!
DeleteVery interesting. I LOVE anything with a nice and crispy crust-as long as the inside is worth passing though the crust to eat, otherwise I just leave it at the crust. While reading though the hilarious comments and your cute replies, I was thinking of bananas before you mentioned them. I think it would be a DELICIOUS idea to add crushed bananas/banana pudding mix/banana extract to these reeses hand pies. NOTHING can top peanut butter+chocolate+banana mixed together!! I am wondering what you would suggest for a way to incorporate the banana to this recipe..??.. I have everything downstairs, and it's taking A LOT of energy to hold myself here awaiting your response BEFORE I go and make my own (sometimes) miserable attempt at the new idea incorporation. You are now a new treat for me and I am signing up to be added as a fan and follower anywhere I am able to. Thank you for your humor, brilliance, and for putting foods together that we often wonder if the idea is better left off being just that. Hope your day is going well. Take care Sweetie!!
ReplyDeleteHi Shawn! Since I haven't tried any of these ideas, I can't vouch for their success, but here they are. You could try adding banana pudding mix (dry) to the peanut butter mixture or possibly mashed bananas. It sounds delicious; banana and pb/choc is a great combo! Let me know what you think if you try it! Thanks for following and have a great day as well!
DeleteI have discovered Rhodes frozen bread and rolls. It works great for everything from pizza, donuts , pasties as well as bread. I am going to try the nuclear and will let you know. The diner rolls are about the right size when rolled out.
